God has provided a wonderful facility for Living Hope Church. We have entered into a “lease to purchase” arrangement with Cornerstone Church of God (2150 Lexington Rd.; Athens, GA). This means we will make monthly payments of $9,000 for 2-3 years (half of which apply to the purchase price). After this three-year period we will need to make the final payment (or secure a loan) on the $2 million purchase price.
This facility includes two main buildings, along with a house. The two main buildings are the office/children’s area/old sanctuary and the other main building is the worship center with classrooms. This facility has been well kept by the Cornerstone Church of God. They have run a pre-school for years, with 72 children enrolled. Living Hope will take over that pre-school once Cornerstone leaves. Our vision for the house is to make it a “house of prayer.”
Financially, this is a huge step of faith for Living Hope, but we are trusting God to provide the needed resources.
We believe this location is very strategic for kingdom ministry. It is just off the main Athens’ loop. It is only 3-minutes from downtown Athens and the University of Georgia. Furthermore, there are five counties (Clarke, Oconee, Jackson, Oglethorpe, and Madison) within a 5-mile radius of the property. Recent surveys indicate 84% of Clarke and Oconee counties are NOT in church on a given Sunday morning. Jesus said, “The fields are white for harvest, but the laborers are few” (Luke 10:2).
We are extremely grateful for how God has worked to put us in this location. We also believe God has given us this facility to be used for His glory. We want to be very open and sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit for how it can be utilized for kingdom ministry. There are endless possibilities due to the many needs in our area.
