Welcome!

Our vision is to be a Word-rooted, Spirit-empowered, and culturally-engaged church that seeks to bring salvation to the lost, healing to the hurting, and the training of leaders to help reach the world for Jesus Christ. We would love for you to join the good work that God's begun at Living Hope Church! — Pastor David Holt

Our History

I grew up in Stone Mountain and attended UGA from 1979-1983. During that time, God used Watkinsville First Baptist Church (WFBC) to help me grow in Christ and call me to ministry. Dede and I were married at WFBC and moved to the Midwest, where I served as a college pastor for four years in MN, attended Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and then served as a senior pastor for 17 years in WI. We moved back to GA in 2008 due to my mother having Alzheimer's.  She has since gone to be with the Lord.

From 2009-2013 I served as the Discipleship Pastor at WFBC.  It was there Pastor Carlos Sibley shared his vision to see churches planted at every exit of the loop around Athens.  Two weeks after he shared this vision, God had me on the east side of Athens where I saw a "for sale" sign in front of Cornerstone Church (our current property!).

We began to explore this facility, and within months God confirmed that I was to plant Living Hope Church on that property, and He has faithfully provided every step of the way.

Even though WFBC was very instrumental in helping plant Living Hope, we are a non-denomination church.

I invite you to prayerfully consider becoming a part of Living Hope Church as we seek to be a Word-rooted, Spirit-empowered, culturally-engaged church that brings salvation to the lost, healing to the hurting, and the training of leaders to help reach the world for Jesus!

Athens-Clarke County is full of needs, and we are just five minutes from UGA. Furthermore, five counties comprise a 5-mile radius of our location. Jesus said, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few” (Luke 10:2).
